Not using the refrence i should.
When you have a pizza delivered do you pay over the phone? The runner is both the beatter and driver delivering you the pizza/ custermer. Always pay them when they get to your door not leaving the shop. |

Doesn't sound right, but you do need all the proper info for them to check on it. You need the name, time, place (including district). They can check the logs to see if it might have been a one time thing or if its a trend for that player (or at least it used to be something they did check, but haven't heard that they stopped this tipe of reporting). They will not however, tell you what steps they took. They might have just sent him a warning if it was a one time thing, could've been a temporary lockout, and so on.

I'm sure there have been. There used to be tons of scammers in the game. I don't know what the run was but typically the runners setup a way to pay throughout the run. So unless it's an official runner (A runner from guilds like LBS and such) or someone who has a thread (that is quite full and has good responses) I wouldn't pay upfront. If you do decide to pay upfront, ask for some collateral. If the runner is a runner you can trust he will have something of value to give as collateral or offer him your full armor (useless to them) until the end of the run and that way, they have collateral to make sure you will pay then both parties have some certainty.

As far as I've seen, the game developers don't support runners
or being run, it's a transaction strictly between the runner and the runee. |

Simple solution! Don't be a mug and pay up front, it's not that difficult a concept to understand.

Always be careful, maybe pay half and half or just pay all before you get through the last gate.
I've only been scammed once and it wasn't really a scam. He lagged out but he gave my money back . |

NEVER PAY UP FRONT! Respectable, honest runners will never ask you to. That scam has been around since running became popular waaaayyyyy back when. All you can do is take the SS's and report the bum to a-net.

As for him getting in Trouble...Probably wont happen. Saddly. Not really Anet's fault per say, theres just really too much shady business going on and they have to prioritize what they deal with.
That doesn't need you shouldnt report though. |

Thought about my post for a while, and realized how stupid it was, so I deleted it again since it didn´t bring anything new to the discussion. Last edited by Xceran; Nov 09, 2006 at 06:49 AM // 06:49.. |

There are certain things you can do to prevent being scammed, but getting scammed is the scammer's fault, not yours. We lock the door on our house. But if we forget one day, and someone goes in and steals our computer and our cookie jar, is the thief excused? It's stupid/irresponsible to leave your house unlocked, but a thief is a thief. Period. |
